Background
Paula Prenzel is Assistant Professor of Economic Geography in the Department of Human Geography and Planning of Utrecht University. She completed her PhD in Economic Geography at the London School of Economics.
Paula’s research interests are on issues of regional development and disparities, especially in the context of labour market conditions, human capital and migration. Her PhD thesis was on the regional consequences of demographic change using the example of Germany. In the context of her PhD, Paula analysed the effects of changes in the size and composition of regional populations on public service provision, availability of human capital, and internal migration patterns. She has also worked on and with alternative measures of development such as concepts of well-being and happiness on a national and regional scale.
